H.H. SHAMAR RINPOCHE

3-DAY DHARMA TEACHING TRIP

 

    His Holiness Shamar Rinpoche has kindly accepted our humble invitation to come to our institute on February the eleventh, 2006.  He will lead several Dharma courses over a 3-day period at Mahavaipuya Buddist Association (Bodhi Path Los Angeles). 

 

    It was announced by the 2nd Karmapa, Karma Pakshi, that “future Karmapas shall manifest in two Nirmanakaya forms.”  One is the Black Hat Lama, Karmapa himself, and the other is Shamarpa, the one with the red hat.  Two distinct and separate forms unify in the absolute purity of mind.  Together the Karmapa and the Shamarpa display an unexhausted capacity to spread Dharma and to give help to the floundering multitude in Samsara.  They also officially recognize each other’s incarnation from that time on.

 

     The 14th Shamarpa Mimpa Chorki Lodro was born in Kham, Derge in the year of 1952.  He is the nephew of the 16th Karmapa.  At the age of 9, Shamarpa followed the 16th Karmapa out of Tibet to settle at Rumtek Monastery in Sikkim and studied and practiced under Karmapa’s guidance.  Shamar Rinpoche has been to Europe, America and Asia many times to teach Dharma.  His teaching method is concise enough to draw people from all walks of life.  He now has more than 200,000 students all over the world.

 

Schedule of the 3-day Dharma Teaching:

 

Date:  Feb. 11th. Saturday  

Time:  9:00 am – 5:00pm

Course: Refuge, Chenrezic Empowerment and Chenrezic 1-day Intensive Practice.

Fee:  $25  (includes vegetarian lunch box) 

 

Date:  Feb. 12th. Sunday  

Time:  9:00 am – 5:00pm

Course:  Amitaba Empowerment  and Amitaba 1-day Intensive Practice.

Fee:  $25  (includes vegetarian lunch box)

·        Those who have not yet refuged to Karma Kagyu lineage and would like to participate in the empowerment and practice should take refuge vow on the 11th first.

 

Date:  Feb. 13th. Monday  

Time:  7:00 pm

Course:  Instruction on Sadhana of 35 Buddha.

Fee:  $15
